Accusation is afraid that defendants in Ulman's case will never appear
Edward Ulman, Alexander Kalaganskiy and Vladimir Voevodin, defendants in the case on execution of residents of Chechnya, have failed to appear today at the session of the North-Caucasian Military Court. Liudmila Tikhomirova, representative of the victim party, informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about it. "A break in the court session was announced till tomorrow, since the defendants' advocates said that the absentees' mobile phones were switched off and they were not accessible," Ms. Tikhomirova said.
In her words, Ulman, Kalaganskiy and Voevodin are under a threat of imprisonment. Until now, the defendants were under recognizance not to leave. "I think they will fail to appear tomorrow as well, since being absent today they should have realized the whole scope of responsibility," Liudmila Tikhomirova added.
The prosecution party is suspicious since the three defendants have disappeared all at once. According to the defendants' advocate, Ulman should be in Moscow, Voevodin in Novosibirsk and Kalaganskiy in Ulan-Ude, the "Vesti.ru" informs. It remains unknown, however, why they failed to appear at the judicial debates. It is unknown also to the fourth defendant - Alexei Perelevskiy - the only one who came to the court today.
The court decided to postpone the session till April 13 and to find out meanwhile the defendants' whereabouts.
