Chechen MIA knows nothing about murder of Doku Umarov's father

The employees of law enforcement bodies of Chechnya would not make any comments on the information about a possible murder of elderly Khamad Umarov, father of Doku Umarov, President of unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI), who was kidnapped about two years ago by the workers of power agencies.

"I have no particular information to confirm or refute this news," an officer of Chechen militia said in his talk with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "As far as I know, Khamad Umarov was kidnapped in May 2005 year by unknown persons in military uniform. The source of information about his possible murder is unknown."

The information that Khamad Umarov, 74, is now dead was disseminated in the end of last week by web sites of Chechen separatists. Khamad Umarov and Doku Umarov's wife and son of six months were kidnapped and hidden in some unknown place by a group of power agents on May 5, 2005.
