Supporters of “Sasna Tsrer” hold a protest action in Yerevan
Members of the “Sasna Tsrer” (Daredevils of Sassoun) detachment were convicted groundlessly, said participants of a protest action held in front of the court building in Yerevan, where the appeal against the convicted person’s sentences was considered.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 24, the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan sentenced members of the “Sasna Tsrer” detachment to 4-25 years of imprisonment in the case on the seizure of the police regiment building in July 2016. The convicts pleaded not guilty and decided to challenge the verdict at the Court of Appeal.
On July 17-31, 2016, the "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) detachment, formed by supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" Movement, captured and held the building of the police patrol-and-post service in Yerevan.
Today, the Court of Appeal has started consideration of the appeal against the verdict, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports. The court hearing took place against the background of a protest action held by supporters of the movement in support of the “Sasna Tsrer” detachment members. According to organizers, about 50 people took part in the protest action.
At the rally, Arthur Movsisyan, a supporter of the movement, has said that the authorities seek to isolate the leaders of the “Sasna Tsrer” in order to weaken the “National Democratic Pole” Party. “The April 2018 revolution was a fiction. [Former President] Serzh Sargsyan launched the process, and [Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan adheres to the same course today,” the protestor said.
