Head of Ochamchira District apologizes for shooting incident in Sukhumi

Beslan Bigvava, the head of the Ochamchira District, has asked to forgive him for a shooting incident in a Sukhumi restaurant and pointed to the need to wait until the end of the investigative actions within this case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 4, the President of Abkhazia dismissed Beslan Bigvava from the post of the head of the Ochamchira District, as the latter was a suspect in the case of shooting and wounding a person on the New Year Eve. The case is being investigated under the articles of the Criminal Code of Abkhazia on illegal arm possession and carrying and on intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. The man, who received a gunshot wound to his thigh, was taken to the Republic's Hospital.

In his address to residents of the Ochamchira District, Beslan Bigvava has commented on the incident that occurred at the New Year Night in the "Garuda" restaurant and asked to pardon him for it, the "Apsadgyl-Info" News Agency reported on January 5.

"I want to ask each of you to forgive me for the incident that should not have happened! I beg you to show restraint and patience, not to react to the impudent attacks of anonymous Internet users and wait until the end of the investigative actions," the agency quoted Mr Bigvava as saying.
