Gannushkina: accusations against Chechens of preparing a terror act in Moscow are doubtful

Svetlana Gannushkina, a well-known human rights activist, believes that the young people detained and taken to custody in connection with a mined car in Profsoyuznaya Street in Moscow are innocent. She thinks that the only thing that can help in establishing the truth is publicity and attention of mass media to investigation and exposure of various possible intrigues. Ms. Cannushkina, Chair of the Committee "Civil Assistance" and one of the leaders of the "Memorial" Society, has dealt with these issues in her interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

We remind you that on May 8, near a house in Profsoyuznaya Street in Moscow, FSB (Federal Security Bureau) agents detected a car with a bomb in it. Umar Batukaev and Ruslan Musaev were detained as suspects of preparing a crime.

Mother of arrested Umar Batukaev told Ms. Gannushkina that her son had nothing to do with the armed Chechen opposition, and at the moment of detention he was preparing to defend his diploma.
