Azerbaijani oppositionist treats summon to police as pressure on him

Aziz Mamiev, a member of the youth organization of the “Musavat” Party, was summoned to the Baku police for reposting a video on TikTok. According to the activist, the police warned him against posts with criticism of the country’s authorities.

“I received offensive audios in messengers, and I assumed that was the work of the police. But the police told me that they were not involved in those actions,” Aziz Mamiev noted.

“They reproached me for writing about the ‘change of power’ and made ‘unpleasant things’ about Ilham Aliev, President of Azerbaijan, and told me not to do anything like that again ... It was a kind of warning to me,” Aziz Mamiev said.

Let us remind you that on January 21, Ilham Gusein, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office, where he got a warning for a repost on Facebook. His party colleagues treated the above as pressure on the activist and on the organization as a whole.
