Advocate points to absence of specifics in Insa Lander's case
The charges against the blogger, Insa Lander, within the recruitment case have been formulated without specifics about the essence of her actions, the advocate has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the blogger from the city of Baksan, Oguz Insa Soltan-Khamidova, known under the pseudonym of Insa Lander, was detained on December 9, 2021, and placed under house arrest in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) on suspicion of facilitating terrorist activities.
Insa's advocate, Dmitry Zakhvatov, has pointed to a legal collision in Insa's case. "The problem is that there is no criminal liability for involvement someone in undefined terrorist activities; there is liability for inciting specific crimes listed in parts 1-1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code," Mr Zakhvatov has explained.
According to the interrogation protocol, Insa confessed to "involving someone in terrorist activities," but there is no such crime. "It turns out that the accusation is not formulated; that is, the crime event itself is absent therein," Dmitry Zakhvatov has summed up.
He has also drawn attention to the small volume of the case files. "Earlier, such cases included several volumes, and now – half a volume at the most; and this despite the fact that the article under which Insa Lander is accused implies from five to 15 (and in some cases up to 20) years in prison," the advocate has stressed. He has compared his client's case with the practice of Stalin's times.
