Armenian opposition claims refusal to fight for Nagorno-Karabakh is unacceptable

In its dialogue with Turkey, Armenia pursues the concession policy; however, the current authorities have no mandate for new concessions and new losses, oppositionists have stated at their rally in Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 17, about 200 members of youth organizations of the oppositional "Dashnaktsutyun" Party and the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) took part in a protest action held near the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) located in central Yerevan. The establishment of relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey is contrary to the interests of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, oppositional activists stated at the rally.

The protesters near the MFA building in central Yerevan believe that in its dialogue with Turkey, Armenia is pursuing a policy of concessions; and both the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh and the issue of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Turkey are at stake. According to the protesters, the current authorities have no mandate for new concessions and new losses.

One of the protesters, a member of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" Party, said in his address to the audience that "Armenian authorities are negotiating with Turkey and Azerbaijan behind the backs of the people and are trading in the country and its sovereignty."
