Kabardino-Balkaria: trial of militiamen accused of beating teenagers postponed

The court session of the Elborus District Court of Kabardino-Balkaria on the case of beating by employees of the local ROVD of two teenagers due to take place today has failed because of non-appearance of one of the main witnesses.

This witness, the teenager who has evidenced at the preliminary investigation that he had seen Yusup Nakani and Ravil Nuraliev at the police station at midnight with traces of beatings in their faces, fails to appear already for the second time.

According to Yusup Nakani's mother, the teenager could have been intimidated and consequently is scared to appear in the courtroom.

In connection with the public prosecutor's vacation, the next court session will take place only on August 13, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that on April 19 this year the Prosecutor's Office of the Elborus District presented charges to two ROVD employees M. Mashezov and M. Baichekuev under Articles "abuse of service duties" (Part 1, Article 286, of the Criminal Code (CC) of the Russian Federation) and "causing physical and mental sufferings to a minor through application of tortures" (Part 2, Article 117, of the CC).
