Delimkhanov's appointment as deputy chairman of State Duma committee improves Kadyrov's influence
Adam Delimkhanov, a State Duma MP from Chechnya, has been appointed First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Combating Corruption; it was done as a reward for his staying in the special operation zone in Ukraine. His appointment evidences the growing influence of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 7, the Russian State Duma adopted a resolution on the election of Delimkhanov as the first deputy head of the above Duma Committee.
Delimkhanov's appointment is a promotion for him, says Evgeny Minchenko, the president of the "Minchenko Consulting" Holding.
"This is an indicator of Kadyrov's growing influence, who, of course, scored points during [the special operation] both among elites and in public opinion. It is clear that Delimkhanov is Kadyrov's right hand, at least in terms of the power sphere; moreover that his participation in hostilities was broadly promoted," Mr Minchenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The position of the deputy chairman of the above State Duma Committee can be seen as Delimkhanov's encouragement, says Sergey Zhavoronkov, a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Institutional Problems at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy.
"This should be considered as an analogue of some kind of medal. The State Duma votes according to the plans approved by the government, the presidential administration and the FSB," he has stated.
