Experts doubt the objectivity of investigation into Kodor Gorge shelling

Independent military expert Pavel Felgengauer is surprised with the fact that the investigation of the bombardment of the Kodor Gorge on March 11, 2007, conducted by UN experts, gave no results. In his opinion, the investigation of the incident by the Joint Group created for the purpose after the shelling by General-Major Kattak, Chief Military Observer of the UN Mission in Georgia, was not complete:

"The fact that they failed to define from where the shelling was conducted looks rather strange. They lacked either due access or competence, since it is possible to define the direction for sure."

We remind you that the published Special Report of the Investigatory Group states in fact that the experts' work conditions and the available materials could not allow coming to unequivocal conclusions about the responsibility of this or that party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the UN investigation was launched under the request of Georgia in connection with the incident on March 11, when, according to Tbilisi's statements, Russia made air attacks on the Kodor Gorge.
