Stavropol activist arrested after lodging application about election violation

Law enforcers have detained Andrei Fokin, an activist, when he came to the police to file a complaint about election violations. After that, Fokin, who is acting as a confidant of the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), was taken to court, which sentenced him to seven days of arrest.

On September 9-11, the Stavropol Territory is electing deputies in nine city constituencies, as well deputies to the council of the city of Lermontov and deputies of the Essentuki City Duma.

Fokin's arrest has been reported on the website "Map of Election Violations" of the "Golos" (Vote)* movement's project.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 4, the court fined Andrei Fokin treating his post of a pacifist hashtag in a social network as discrediting the Russian Army.

Andrei Fokin, who is also actively opposing the development of Mount Mashuk, has stated that the Stavropol Territory is becoming a platform for persecuting environmentalists.
