Suspect of murdering antifascist Kacharava sentenced to 12 years in prison

The Petersburg Court has sentenced four defendants in the murder case of student-antifascist Timur Kacharava to imprisonment from 2 to 12 years. Three other defendants were convicted conditionally.

The "Gazeta.Ru" reports that Andrei Shabalin, who was found guilty by the jury of murdering Timur Kacharava, was sentenced to 12 years of deprivation of freedom in a strict custody colony. His sentence for the crime envisaged by Article 105 of the Criminal Code (CC) assumes 11 years of imprisonment, and for kindling of hatred or enmity (Article 292 of the CC) - to three and a half years. His punishment was defined by a partial summing up of the terms. The remaining defendants were found guilty of kindling hatred or enmity.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the attack on antifascists Timur Kacharava and Maksim Zgibaj was made in the centre of Petersburg on November 13, 2005; Timur died in situ and Maksim was hospitalized in a grave condition.
