Ingushetia: information about beating of Ali-Yurt residents by power agents is verified

The law enforcement bodies of Ingushetia are checking the facts of beating by federal servicemen of local residents in the course of a special operation in one of Ingush villages near the border with North Ossetia.

"On July 30 this year, a collective application was submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of the Nazran District of Ingushetia by residents of the Ali-Yurt village that at 5 a.m. on July 28, 2007, employees of law enforcement bodies, including fighters of the RF FSB Department for the Republic of Ingushetia, wearing masks and camouflage rushed into their households and beat them. On the same day, three more local residents - Khavazh Gagiev, Ruslan and Ahmed Ganizhev - also applied to the Prosecutor's Office stating that they also had been beaten," a source in the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Ingushetia has reported.

According to human rights activists, in the course of "zachistka" (clean-up) not only men, but also women (Tanzila Esmurzieva, in her seventh month of pregnancy, was hospitalized in a grave condition), children under 15 and elderly persons suffered, about 30 persons in total. 19 persons were hospitalized with various traumas.
