Court in Chechnya explains refusal to dismiss contract soldier by continued mobilization

The Grozny Military Court has referred to the decree on the partial mobilization and refused to satisfy the claim of Movsar Arsanov, a contract soldier, on dismissal from military service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that military servicemen cannot break their contracts until the end of mobilization, although it is not known for what period it was announced, Sergey Krivenko, a human rights defender, and Marina Agaltsova, a lawyer, have pointed out. In January 2023, it became known that garrison military courts, by referring to the decree on mobilization, refuse to satisfy militaries' claims on dismissal due to the expiration of their contracts.

On September 21, 2022, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, announced a partial mobilization. On October 28, Sergey Shoigu, the Russian Minister of Defence reported on the completion of the partial mobilization, but the President failed to sign a respective decree.

The Grozny Garrison Military Court has denied the request of Movsar Arsanov, who is seeking dismissal from the Russian Armed Forces. The court referred to the fact that it is impossible to leave the army during mobilization, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

In the summer of 2022, Movsar Arsanov, a resident of Chechnya, signed a contract, but on September 9, he submitted a report to his command, asking him to be fired as "the one who failed to pass the test." He also indicated that he was the sole breadwinner of the family; and in case of his death nobody would take care of his family.
