Court in Grozny sends contract soldier to colony for evading service
The Grozny Garrison Military Court has sentenced Dmitry Samsonov, a contract military serviceman, to 2.5 in colony for his absence from service during the mobilization period.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, 2022, after the announcement of the partial mobilization in Russia, a part of the article was added to the Russian Criminal Code on unauthorized leaving the place of service during the mobilization. Now, this article provides for up to seven years of imprisonment. On March 6, it became known that a court in Grozny had sentenced Evgeny Eryomin, another contract soldier, to two years in colony after finding him guilty of leaving his unit without command's permit during the mobilization time.
According to the "Grozny Inform" outlet, which has quoted the press service of the above court, Dmitry Samsonov had served under contract in Chechnya, but on August 10, 2022, he arbitrarily left his military unit and departed "to the place of residence of his relative in the Krasnodar Territory." He remained there even after the announcement of the partial mobilization in Russia and returned to the unit only on October 15, 2022, and resumed his duties.
In November last year, Ramzan Kadyrov suggested imposing heavy fines on service evaders and then sending them to the frontline.
