Court refuses to cancel mobilization of two residents of Dagestan
The military court has dismissed the lawsuits lodged by Sabir Khidirov and Musa Ashurbekov, residents of the city of Derbent, who had protested against the decision of the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) to mobilize them for taking part in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Southern Russia had stated that, in their opinion, the mobilization of the men who have serious health problems or who have a reservation from mobilization is unlawful.
According to the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project, Sabir Khidirov had stressed that he was mobilized despite the fact that he has three children under the age of 16. He also explained that he was in Ukraine, where he was taking part in hostilities; this is reported by the website of the Derbent City Court.
In his turn, Musa Ashurbekov pointed out that he had not served in the army and was the only breadwinner in his family. Besides, his mother and wife with two young children are dependent on him.
Let us remind you that on September 25 and 26, 2022, large-scale anti-mobilization actions were held in Makhachkala; they ended in mass detentions. Human rights defenders reported dozens of criminal cases initiated against protesters; at least 148 people were found guilty of committing violations.
