Colleagues of journalist Gadjiev hold pickets in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, the journalists Idris Yusupov and Magomed Magomedov have held solo pickets demanding the release of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested editor of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet, treat his criminal case as political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support. On July 24, such pickets were held by Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" and Idris Yusupov, a journalist with the "Novoye Delo" (New Cause) outlet.

Today, Idris Yusupov began his picket with a poster reading "Freedom to journalism!" Mr Magomedov has informed. According to his story, Yusupov was approached by policemen. Magomedov himself held his solo picket demanding Gadjiev's release. He has noted that law enforcers made no attempts to interfere with the pickets.

Let us remind you that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charitable Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, are in custody since June 2019 on charges of financing terrorism. Investigators believe that they raised money for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.
