Muscovites oppose construction of mosque announced by Kadyrov

The appearance of the mosque, the construction of which was announced by Ramzan Kadyrov, will aggravate transport problems in the Moscow district of Yuzhnoe Butovo, local residents have stated. Moscow authorities have assured that the construction decision has not yet been made.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 28, 2023, Kadyrov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had approved the plan to build a new mosque in Akhmat Kadyrov Street in Moscow.

Activists demand that the decision to build a mosque be made after local residents' voting, the "Msk1.ru" outlet reports.

"The construction of the mosque will violate citizens' legitimate interests, since services in mosques are conducted using the voice-amplifying equipment; a large number of visitors and pilgrims will lead to transport collapse and disturb citizens' peace," says the appeal of local residents to the capital's administration.

Let us recall that in April this year, Kadyrov intervened in the issue of building a mosque near the Svyatoe Ozero (Holy Lake) in Moscow, where there is already an Orthodox temple. In his comment on citizens' mass protests, he said that opponents to the mosque should be mobilized or go to trial. As a result, Sergey Sobyanin, the Moscow Mayor, promised that there would be no mosque at the Holy Lake; it would be built in some other place.
