Resident of Adygea accused of desertion

A court in Adygea has placed in custody a local resident who, according to investigators, failed to show up for military service after his vacation.

According to investigators, after his vacation that was during the mobilization, the military serviceman didn't arrive at the place of his military service and failed to present any valid reasons.

A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 3, Article 338, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Desertion" (provides for up to 15 years of freedom deprivation, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

The accused and his defence objected to his arrest, but the court has concluded that the above resident of Adygea could hide from investigators, and, therefore, placed him in custody for two months.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that a court in Maykop (the capital of Adygea) sentenced Vladimir Litenkov, a military from the Krasnodar Territory, to five years in prison, finding him guilty of leaving his military unit without permission.
