Court upholds sentence of Volgograd student Vodolagin in case on fakes about Russian Army
A court of appeal upheld the sentence of Daniil Vodolagin, a student from Volgograd, who was sentenced to five years of imprisonment on the charge of disseminating fakes about the Russian Armed Forces. This information has been reported by the “OVD-Info”* human rights project.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in 2023, due to his pacifist posts on social networks, 21-year-old Daniil Vodolagin was accused of spreading fake news about the Russian Armed Forces for political reasons. On July 15, the Sovetsky District Court of Volgograd sentenced the young man to five years of imprisonment.
According to the investigators’ version, Daniil Vodolagin publicly disseminated deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces. The “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” human rights project recognized Daniil Vodolagin as a political prisoner.
Let us remind you that in December 2023, a mother of Daniil Vodolagin reported that her son had earlier been brought to administrative responsibility twice for posting on social networks prohibited symbols of Nazi Germany and insults against a certain person. Daniil Vodolagin paid both fines. After that, the investigating bodies were not interested in him, and his arrest became a complete surprise for the family, the woman said.
