Prosecution demands 10 years of imprisonment for journalist in Azerbaijan

At today's trial of journalist Einullah Fatullaev, the state prosecutor Chingiz Shukyurov made his statement. He has asked the court to sentence the journalist to 10 years of imprisonment.

In his turn, Fatullaev himself has apprehended the prosecutor's performance with irony and stated again that does not plead guilty on any of the presented charges. As he said, the performance of the public prosecutor has demonstrated all over again that the whole litigation is just a farce and has the only aim to punish him.

Meanwhile, his advocate Isakhan Ashurov said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that should they fail to search justice in Azerbaijani courts, they will go to the European Court.

We remind you that Mr Fatullaev was convicted this April to two and a half years of imprisonment on charges of insulting the memory of Khodzaly residents. The current process is connected with the publications, in which Fatullaev ostensibly threatened with terror and kindled national enmity. At the same time, he is also accused of tax evasion.
