Two law enforcers from North Ossetia charged in case on death of detainee
In Vladikavkaz, a driver got into a road traffic accident because of his deteriorated health state. According to the investigators’ version, instead of sending the man to a hospital, law enforcers took him to a police station, and the man later died.
According to the investigators’ version, on September 10 of this year, the health state of the resident of North Ossetia who was driving a car deteriorated sharply. As a result, the driver collided with cars parked on the street of Vladikavkaz, after which he lost consciousness.
Two inspectors of the road-and-patrol police service (known as DPS) arrived at the scene. Despite the man’s condition, they took him to a police station. Investigators suggest that the DPS inspectors acted in such a way in order to improve their work performance indicators.
An ambulance was called for the detainee, and medical officers stated that the man needed to be hospitalized. However, the law enforcers went beyond their authority and prevented the man from being taken to the hospital. Later, an ambulance was called for the detainee a second time, it took him to the hospital, where he died because of his worsening condition, the ICRF’s Investigating Department for North Ossetia reported on its Telegram channel.
