Correspondent of Radio Liberty released in Azerbaijan

The authorities of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan have released Ilgar Nasibov, a reporter of Radio Liberty. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Institute for Reporters' Safety that after yesterday's proceedings a decision was made to stop the case concerning the journalist for absence of sufficient evidences of his guilt, after which he was released.

Sabukhi Novruzov, chief of Nakhichevan city police, wrote an application about recall of his claim against the journalist. We note here that in his claim the policeman accused the journalist of insulting his honour and dignity and demanded "to bring the reporter to responsibility."

The case was made known to international organizations and foreign embassies who strained their efforts not to admit another violation of the rights of a press worker in Azerbaijan.
