"Reporters without Borders" condemn another attack on journalist Khalil in Azerbaijan

International organizations have resolutely criticized another attack on the reporter of the "Azadlyg" newspaper Agyl Khalil in Azerbaijan, accomplished on May 7.

Thus, the "Reporters without Borders" note in their statement that on May 7 an attempt was undertaken to push Mr Khalil under the metro train, and some hours later two persons seized him in the street and tried to kidnap. Starting from this February, these were the third and fourth attempts to attack the journalist.

"The ongoing attacks on journalist are unacceptable. His persecutors are clearly demonstrating their intention to use physical pressure to make him silent. The authorities shall react, stop the violence and ensure that the reporter could perform his work in full safety," runs the statement.
