Rostov-on-Don holds First Southern Venture Fair

The First Southern Venture Fair has presented innovations from Rostov-on-Don, Novocherkassk, Taganrog, Volgodonsk, Shakhty, Volgograd, Stavropol, Makhachkala and Elista. They covered the sectors of construction, medicine and medical equipment, telecommunications, information technologies and chemical industry. In total, 21 projects were presented.

The Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Southern Technological Company" from Makhachkala has presented a project for building WIMAX-equipment for broadband remote access to the Internet. The innovation here lies in using mathematical software of their own. This software can compress a data package prior to its further transmission across country, which is actual for Dagestan. The coverage radius of one station is 50 kilometres.

The LLC "Aranzal" from Elista has exhibited wooden panels for low-rise buildings. The idea of the project is to use reed in panel manufacture as the heat insulator - ecologically clean material and a bearing structure at the same time. The company assures that the cost of such material is almost three times lower than that of sandwich panels and that the houses built from such material have already demonstrated their heat-insulating properties in 30-degree frosts last winter.

The LLC Medical Centre "Novomeditsina" has developed an innovative algorithm, which allows defining all diseases in a human - both hereditary and acquired. This is a complex system comprising two software products and two powerful databases, which allow conducting a complex diagnostic evaluation and draft a personified treatment regimen for the patient. According to the authors, it is enough to sample a millilitre of a liquid from the patient's body for retrieval of complete genetic information and markers of all diseases - all in all within 90 seconds.

The Stavropol-based company "Stavtron" has brought to the exhibition its trial installation for recycling lead batteries, which has processing capacity of 90 tons per month and yields lead and antimony, salts of these metals and polypropylene chips as end products.

The Institute of Surfactants from Volgodonsk was searching investors at the exhibition for production of exterquates intended for manufacture of conditioners for linen and hosiery, and also of textile auxiliary substances.

The Scientific Research Institute of Power Technologies from Novocherkassk offered its technologies to investors, which had been designed for defence industry, but can now be used in manufacture of engines, uninterrupted power supply units to the specifications superior than in western prototypes.

Vladimir Barteniev, Minister of Economy of the Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the presented projects are ready for implementation. The participants of the exhibition have asserted that their exhibits caused great interest among the visitors.

According to the Russian Association of Direct and Venture Investment, now Russia operates about 130 venture funds (that is, risk-based investment of capitals), where capitalization in 2007 totalled 10 billion dollars. These funds are by 15 percent only made up from budget money; 36 percent in them originate from individual persons.
