Dagestan Moslems gather assistance for Palestinians
On January 16, a rally was held in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, with a demand to stop bombardments of Gaza Strip by Israelis. A proposal was moved by the audience to start an assistant fund to help the Palestinian people. The rally was over 15-thousand strong.
"We, representatives of religious, public, political and youth organizations of Dagestan, ordinary Moslems, voice our resolute protest against the crimes of Israeli soldiery and demand immediate termination of the aggression against the Palestinian population of Gaza Strip and withdrawal of Israel's armed forces. We also appeal to international troops and the countries-accomplices of today's crimes in the territory of Palestine to stop supporting extremism and terrorism committed by Israeli troops," runs the resolution of the rally.
Besides, the Moslems of Dagestan have demanded from the UN Security Council "to apply the strictest sanctions against the Jewish state," and addressed the governments of Russia and Dagestan with an appeal "not to take an exterior stand in relation to Palestinian people during these hard days," the "Islam.ru" website reports.
Magomedrasul Saaduev, Imam of the Central Mosque, has called Dagestanian to help the people of Palestine and express solidarity with their problems and troubles, as the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
