In Chechnya, two Districts are under the CTO regime

Since April 20, in the south of Chechnya, in the Itum-Kalin and Vedeno Districts, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was announced. Some local observers believe that these could be power agents' response actions to the Kremlin's decision to cancel the CTO regime that had survived in Chechnya for more than nine years.

"Since yesterday, a part of the territory of the Itum-Kalin and Vedeno Districts of the Chechen Republic are under the CTO regime. The reason is that recently active participants of bandit formations were noticed in these regions, there are cases of appearance of small groups of militants in dwelling settlements; there is also information available in special agencies that bandits plan to penetrate into the plain area of the republic and the city of Grozny for committing terror acts," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Military Commandant's Office of Chechnya.
