Azerbaijan: Armenia detains two Azerbaijani servicemen as prisoners

Armenia keeps two Azerbaijani servicemen in captivity. The fact was reported to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" at the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan. We note here that a couple days ago the Armenian party captured Eldaniz Nuriev, born in 1976, who was serving his military obligations in the territory of the Fizulinskiy District. In the version of the Ministry, the soldier was unarmed and just lost his way and found himself in the Armenian territory.

The Baku office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has reported that currently Eldaniz Nuriev is kept in Nagorny Karabakh, and in the near future the employees of the Karabakh Office of the ICRC will visit the prisoner.

This is already the third soldier who got captive by Armenians during the latest three weeks. The Armenian party asserted that soldiers run away to them because of hazing ("dedovschina") in the Azerbaijan Army. The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan is insisting that the soldiers got lost in the fog. The first captive in December was Vusal Garachaev - on December 7 in the Agdam District, but on December 23, he was released by Armenians. Samid Mamedov, the second soldier, was captured on December 25 in the Idzhevan District of Armenia, and not released so far.
