E. Kisriev: the mosque in Dagestan was attacked because of "internal showdowns"

"The attack on 'Yuzhnaya' (Southern) mosque located in the outskirt of the capital of Dagestan committed at the end of March was caused by internal showdowns (conflicts) among the people engaged in servicing the mosque," Enver Kisriev, an employee of the Centre for Civilization and Regional Researches of the Russian Academy of Sciences, asserts. He noted in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he did not see any religious context in the incident.

"One should remember that great religions are always generating a class of the so-called 'attendants'. In Christianity they are called priests, in Islam - mullahs. In any way, these are posts, or positions, and usually, every post implies a sort of competition, careerism and other similar things. I think that the attack was because of these circumstances," Mr. Kisriev, whose book on Islam in Dagestan will soon see the light, said.

We remind you that the "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that on March 30 an armed attack was made on "Yuzhnaya" mosque, located in the suburb of the capital of Dagestan, where several mosque visitors got hurt. According to Ramil Kurbanov, one of the mosque parishioners, the attackers were in camouflage and masks. He could not exclude that they might have been power agents. Mr. Kurbanov has also explained that the kidnapped parishioners were later taken out to the mountains, their napes were shaved, and then they were dropped out of the bus one by one.
