Georgia: South Ossetia opens fire on Georgian villages
Tonight, the Ossetian party has opened fire in the direction of Georgian villages located in the Grand Liakhva Gorge, the IA "News of Georgia" reports.
The "New Region" informs, with reference to local residents, that old and deserted farms in Tamarasheni and Achabeti villages were shelled. The sounds of several explosions were also heard from the fields.
There are no casualties or wounded persons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that according to the Georgian authorities, a similar incident took place in the evening on May 23. The shelling was conducted by automatic weapons and grenade launchers from Textile settlement of the city of Tskhinval.
We remind you that on May 19 fire was opened on Tskhinval and lasted for more than 30 minutes. Compared with the shelling that was registered in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone recently, this bombardment was the most intense.
In connection with bombardment of Tskhinval on May 19, President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity has accused Georgia of unwillingness to negotiate with Tskhinval and of Georgia's intention to solve the issues of mutual relations with the unrecognized republic extremely by force methods.
