NTV: Georgian authorities used acoustic system to disperse the November 7 meeting

It is quite probable that the authorities of Georgia used a special acoustic system for dispersing the opposition meeting on November 7; the operation of the system causes sharp pain in ears and a feeling of inexplicable and uncontrollable fear and panic in humans.

The NTV Channel reported in its Sunday program "Today" that when replaying the record of the dispersal of the opposition meeting on November 7 in Tbilisi, the journalists of the Channel came across unusual frames. One could see in them a police jeep, and its body contains, apart from special troop soldiers, some structure having essential diameter - a hexagon on a mobile rack. The person, who was operating the structure, was directing it towards the protesters, and the latter start running away.

"Systems of this sort were applied by the command divisions of special US forces during their operations in Iraq. On November 7, we registered the use of such acoustic system by special units of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs at dispersal of the peaceful meeting in Tbilisi," an anonymous expert in the area of special means, said.

"The equipment emits the sound of such force that a human is unable physically to get rid of it, or to hide away from it. By estimate of some experts, application of these systems can cause mental frustrations," the expert has explained.

According to the expert, there is no data in open sources about a particular harm to one's health that can be caused by this system. The equipment is outside the scope of any international conventions, since it was developed already after enactment thereof.

The journalists of the TV Company have found out that one American company is the manufacturer of such acoustic systems.
