International conference on human rights to be held in Azerbaijan

On December 9, Baku will host the international conference "Human Rights Policies of the European Union and Council of Europe: Prospects of Azerbaijan in the European Integration Process".

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the information office of the Council of Europe in Baku that the organizers of the conference are the European Union and the Azerbaijani National European Integration Committee (ANEKI).

The conference will be attended by Peter Semneby, EU's Special Representative for South Caucasus, Denis Bribosa CE's Special Representative, Andres Herkel, a member of the CE's Monitoring Group for Azerbaijan, Samed Seidov, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, as well as by human rights activists, journalists, etc.

We remind you that recently Azerbaijan has faced frequent instances of prosecution in relation to opposition representatives and journalists from independent mass media.
