Charitable women's hospital reopened in Dagestan

The charitable hospital has started receiving patients in its new building.

"So far, we work with outpatients only, since the inpatient department is not ready yet. Gas is brought in but not connected, and we have no hot water and heating, as the workers have not yet finished," said Marzhanat Abdulbasyrova, deputy chief physician of the hospital.

Now, four doctors and seven nurses work in the hospital. Aishat Magomedovs, chief physician, was sick for a long time; now she is in Moscow; when she returns, the inpatient ward will be launched.

The women's charitable hospital was opened in Makhachkala 14 years ago, and - since then - has rendered free-of-charge outpatient help to more than 40,000 women; and 6000 more were treated as inpatients. However in 2008, the Ministry of Property and Land Relations of Dagestan demanded from the hospital to move out, after it refused to pass over to new rental terms as offered by the Ministry.
