Relatives of teacher killed in Dagestan dissatisfied with the course of investigation

The investigators who run the inquiry into the murder of Gulnara Gamzatova, a Dagestani teacher, have indicted a wrong person, her relatives assert. The Department for Dagestan of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) says that relatives' claims are groundless; the alleged killer was put on the search list; and Gamzatova's ex-husband was detained and accused of incitement to murder.

Let us remind you that Gulnara Gamzatova's body was found on February 12 in an apartment in one of the houses in Shamil Avenue of Makhachkala. The 40-year-old Gulnara Gamzatova worked as a physical culture teacher in Secondary School No. 22. Stabbed wounds in her chest and abdomen were found on the body.

Gamzatova's relatives believe that killer tries to put the blame on another person

The problems in the investigation of this case were reported by means of the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot" by Ramazan Galimov, Gulnara's brother. He believes that his sister was killed not because of jealousy, as suggested by the investigation. The casualty and her husband - Rustam Gamzatov - had not lived together for two years, although their divorce was not documented, he said.

According to Galimov, her sister's husband forced a female relative aged 16 to have sex with him. "The girl was afraid to talk about it, as he threatened her; however, my sister managed to learn about it. Rustam was afraid that Gulnara could tell about it to someone else, and that is why he killed her," Ramazan Galimov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He also asserts that the investigator from the ICRF, who is running the case, showed the girl the interrogation protocol, where Gamzatov admits the crime. Galimov also said that the investigatory bodies had organized a confrontation of Rustam with the girl, where he also confessed of his sexual intimacy with the minor.

Gulnara Gamzatova's brother has also reported that the suspect's relatives had bribed investigators aiming to acquit him of murder charges. "Now, Gamzatov figures in the case as an instigator, although at questioning he admitted the murder," Ramazan Galimov asserts, without specifying the source of his information.

"Despite the fact that he had initially pled guilty, he is now accused of incitement. We are afraid that he will leave escape punishment, putting the blame on his cousin, Shamil Malamagomedov, an accomplice in the crime. This Shamil had absolutely no reasons to kill Gulnara," Alia Galimova, Gulnara's mother, said in her interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the woman, her daughter's husband had repeatedly tried to get rid of her in other ways: "He ignored her in every way, tried to catch her in adultery; he was looking for reasons not to live with her."

Gamzatov figures as instigator of murder, the alleged killer is in search, ICRF says

The Dagestani Department of the ICRF reports that Rustam Gamzatov was detained and charged with inciting to murder (Article 33, Part 4, and Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code).

The Department denied the words of the casualty's relatives that a confrontation was organized with Gulnara's relative, where the defendant had allegedly confessed of raping her, and that the investigator had shown her the protocol of interrogation, where Gamzatov had confessed of the murder, not incitement.

Also, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the ICRF the defendant had from the very beginning denied his guilt of the murder of his wife, but admitted that he had incited to do that another person, now searched as a suspect. The source from the Dagestani Department of the ICRF refused to disclose the data of the second suspect, saying that he was searched.

At the same time, on April 23, the website of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) posted a message about the search of Shamil Magomedov (Malamagomedov), a resident of Untsukul village, suspected of killing Gulnara Gamzatova.

Marzhanat Shalaeva, Rustam Gamzatov's advocate, said that the words of Gulnara's relatives that the investigation had been bribed were groundless. "The only thing that I can now tell you is that nobody had bribed the investigators; and the inquiry goes on within the law," said Marzhanat Shalaeva.
