Ecologists of Kavkazskie Mineralnyye Vody complain to Khloponin that the authorities ignore their appeals concerning development of Mashuk

Pyatigorsk environmental organization “Sunny patrol” directed the second open letter of behalf of 4,5 thousand residents of Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody to Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in North Caucasian Federal Okrug (NCFO) Alexander Kholoponin asking him to settle the conflict situation connected with development of Mashuk.

At the end of January the “Sunny patrol” and residents of Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody sent their first open letter to President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in NCFO Alexander Kholoponin demanding to stop deforestation in Mashuk mountain.

In their new appeal sent to Kholoponin on April, 27, the ecologists emphasize “total absence of due response from bodies of power to the alarm signal of the community”. They also consider that questions of regional, federal and world significance should not be settled at the lower level of supervisory bodies.

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Development declared that the question of establishing a committee for solving the problems of protection of natural complexes of Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody was under consideration at the moment.
