Investigation of Zeinab Suyunova's case on preparation of terror act in Red Square completed

The Chief Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has completed the investigation of the criminal case initiated against Zeinab Suyunova, a resident of the Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, accused of the attempted terror actin Red Square in Moscow in 2010.

On December 31, 2010,an explosion occurredin a hotel room in Golovachov Street in Moscow and killed Zavzhat Daudova, a native of Dagestan, who, according to investigators, was to fulfil the role of a suicide bomber. Besides, the explosion injured a hotel receptionist. The building of the hotel cottages was destroyed.

According to investigators, the casualty of the accidentally triggered homemade bomb had a helper–Zeinab Suyunova, who had also prepared a terror act. After the incident, as investigators believe, Suyunova left for Volgograd, where on January 5 she was detained by special services.

According to investigators, Suyunova was not able to carry out her terror act "for the reasons beyond her power, since at the explosion at the hotel she lost the fuse from the improvised explosive device (IED) attached to her body. Besides, having lost her mobile phone and not knowing where Red Square in Moscow is located, she was unable to contact the members of the gang to get specific instructions from its head Daudov." This is reported on the website of the ICRF.

So far,the position of Suyunova or her representative is unknown.

The key figures in the case on preparation of terror acts in Red Square in Moscow during the New Year celebrations on January 1, 2011 – Zeinab Suyunova and the alleged keeper of explosives Timur Akubekov –have concluded a pre-trial agreement on cooperation,as the "Kommersant" newspaper reported on April 16 this year.
