Abkhazian MP Nodik Kvitsiniya gives up his immunity
The parliamentarian Nodik Kvitsiniya, a suspect in the murder case of Russian businessman Sergey Klemantovich and his girlfriend Oksana Skarednova, has submitted an application asking to lift up his parliamentary immunity, said the press service of the Parliament of Abkhazia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 1, the General Public Prosecutor Safarbey Mikanba sent a presentation to the Parliament asking to remove immunity from Nodik Kvitsiniya and bring him as a defendant in the case. Prior to this, on October 19, the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) asked the Supreme Court of Abkhazia to check for the attributes of a crime in the actions Kvitsiniya, a suspect of killing Sergey Klemantovich and Oksana Skarednova, and on October 23, the SC of Abkhazia satisfied the General Public Prosecutor's motion. However, on November 7, the Parliament refused to lift up the immunity.
According to a source from the press service of the Parliament, the GPO has presented additional materials; however, the MP Kvitsiniya has himself written an application asking to lift up his immunity.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from Kvitsiniya or his representative. However, earlier Nodik Kvitsiniya had categorically denied his involvement in the crime.
