Vladikavkaz: court acquits Mufti's son in case about distribution of film "Quran Miracles"
Zaurbek Gatsalov, a son of the Mufti of North Ossetia, has managed to challenge the court's decision in May, when the court found him guilty of an attempt to hand over a CD with video film "Quran Miracles" to a prisoner. This has been reported today by an official of the magistrate court of Vladikavkaz.
On April 7, 2011, the film "Quran Miracles" was put on the Federal list of extremist materials by the decision of the Nefteyugansk City Court of the Khanty-MansiAutonomousTerritory.
In May 2013, Magistrate of the Vladikavkaz Court sentenced Zaurbek Gatsalov to a fine in the amount of 1500 roubles. The Court has considered proven the fact that Zaurbek Gatsalov tried to hand over a CD with the banned film "Quran Miracles" to a prisoner, the "Islam-Today" reports.
After the Court had pronounced the decision to sentence Zaurbek Gatsalov to a fine, Khadjimurat Gatsalov, Mufti of North Ossetia, declared the innocence of his son.
The court that acquitted Zaurbek Gatsalov referred to the fact that the first instance court failed to prove the information material on the CD seized from Zaurbek Gatsalov coincided with the material recognized as extremist.
