Chechen militants' helper sentenced to two years in colony-settlement
A resident of the Gudermes District of Chechnya has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a colony-settlement for aiding a member of the armed underground. On November 11, the verdict against the former accomplice of the militant entered into force. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.
"Yesterday, the verdict against Ibragim Khalimov, a 28-year-old resident of the republic, who is accused of aiding members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), came into force. On October 30, the Gudermes City Court considered the criminal case and sentenced Khalimov to two years of imprisonment in a colony-settlement with a restriction of freedom for the period of six months. The defence did not to appeal against the court's decision within the statutory period of ten days," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.
According to an official from the Prosecutor's Office, last March, resident Ibragim Khalimov was aiding a certain Alkhazov, a member of the armed underground, who was on the federal wanted list. "It was found out that Khalimov provided food and communication means for the member of the armed underground. Alkhazov was killed during a special operation conducted last April," said the source.
