Vladikavkaz: relatives of suspect accused of killing deputy prosecutor hold rally
Today, about 200 persons – relatives and friends of businessman Ruslan Makoev, detained on suspicion of killing Oleg Oziev, Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Promyshlenny District Vladikavkaz, – held an unsanctioned protest rally near the building of the North-Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 23 Oleg Oziev was shot dead by unidentified assailants in central Vladikavkaz. The investigation is conducted under the supervision of the Republic's Prosecutor's Office.
On October 31, Makoev was summoned for questioning by the Investigating Department for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF); and on November 1 he was detained on suspicion of killing Oziev, said Marina Tsomaeva, Ruslan's sister.
According to her story, Ruslan Makoev was tortured. "The aim of our rally is to stop bullying and torture. Let them continue the inquiry, we are not against it. But we stand for a fair inquiry," Marina said during the rally.
According to Stanislav Ailarov, Makoev's defender, on November 10 his client was charged with premeditated murder on preliminary concert committed by a group of persons. The lawyer has added that Makoev is now kept at the temporary detention facility (known as IVS) in the city of Nartkala, in Kabardino-Balkaria.
