Circassian activist from Adygea appointed deputy director of the department of home policy in administration of Krasnodar Territory
Mugdin Chermit, a former MP of Adygea, Vice-President of the International Circassian Association and an Honorary Academician of the Adyg International Academy of Sciences, has taken the office of the deputy head of the department of home policy of the Krasnodar Territory, the Governor's administration has reported.
Mugdin Chermit has explained that he took the post on October 25; however, his duties are not defined yet.
Local experts believe that this appointment may have to do with the expected surge of activism in the Circassian Diaspora on the eve of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
In the opinion of Aslan Gvashev, a former school principal and a Circassian activist from the aul Bolshoi Kichmay, Lazarevskoe District of Sochi, Mugdin Chermit will have an impact on the problem of the Circassian Diaspora.
"The time will show, whether this appointment will help in solving Circassians' problems; however, if we judge from the outlook of [Chermit], of course, it will have an impact on the problems of the Circassian Diaspora," Aslan Gvashev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
