In Azerbaijan, Professor claims being dismissed from university for his "activity in social networks"
Altai Geyushov, Professor of History, has been dismissed from the Baku State University for "activity in social networks." This was stated by the scientist himself.
According to the Professor, the directors of the university, where Altai Geyushov worked, asked him to write a letter for voluntary redundancy. And the Professor has emphasized that he was kicked out of the audience during a lecture.
"My activity in social networks became the reason for my dismissal. If I have to choose between my civil position and my job, then I choose the first one," wrote the Professor on his page on the Facebook in the evening of November 12.
Till present, no comments from the university's directors about the situation with the dismissal of Altai Geyushov are available.
Altai Geyushov is considered to be one of the most highly qualified teachers at the Baku University. He worked at the Department of "History of Turkic and Caucasian Peoples" and lectured in particular on the history of Turkey and the history of Islam in the Caucasus, the website "Haqqin.az" reports.
