Kirov District Court of Volgograd rejects Communists' claim to cancel elections to City Duma
The Kirov District Court of Volgograd has refused to annul the results of the elections to the Volgograd City Duma, as demanded by the lawsuit, lodged by the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), the press service of the Committee reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10 members of the CPRF opened a public reception office in Volgograd within the protest action against the results of the elections held on September 8, including those to the Volgograd City Duma. On September 12, Volgograd Communists lodged a lawsuit against violations of the electoral legislation.
"In particular, the publicity of the work of the Kirov Territorial Election Commission (TEC) was broken. Thus, the receipt and entry of the data from the minutes of polling stations into the summary protocol of the Kirov TEC was done incorrectly," Svetlana Bobrova, the head of the press service of the above CPRF Committee, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that many minutes arrived to the TEC from polling stations only on the following day.
The press service has reported that on November 12, the above Court examined the evidence – the videos and witnesses' testimonies, after which Judge Sergey Maltsev announced the operative part of his judgment – to dismiss the lawsuit.
Communists are going to appeal against the ruling of the Kirov District Court at higher instances.
