In Volgograd Region, policemen suspected of beating detainee
In the town of Kamyshin of the Volgograd Region, two policemen are suspected that they beat a suspect, demanding a confession. After the interrogation, the 29-year-old local resident was hospitalized. This was reported by the investigating bodies of the Volgograd Region.
According to the investigators, on October 9, a district police inspector and an operative agent of the criminal investigation department detained the 29-year-old local resident, suspected of stealing building materials, and beat him to obtain confession.
According to the victim, during the entire interrogation, the policemen beat him with their hands and feet, and three days later, the man sought medical assistance because of deterioration of his health. Physicians diagnosed him with broken ribs.
The criminal case has been instituted against the policemen; they have been already suspended from their duties; and in the nearest future, they will be discharged from the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). This was reported by the statement posted on the website of the Chief Department of the Russian MIA for the Volgograd Region. The statement also notes that the direct supervisors of the policemen will be brought to the disciplinary responsibility of up to their dismissal from the MIA.
