In Azerbaijan, five convicts cut themselves with razors after talking to colony staff

Five prisoners of Azerbaijani Colony No. 17 cut themselves with disposable razors after talking with the employees of the correctional institution. This was reported on November 14 by the PR division of the republic's Penitentiary Service.

The incident in the colony occurred on November 13. A group of convicts put forward some demands to the administration of the colony, which were rejected. Then, a talk took place of prisoners with the colony staff. However, after the talk, inmates did not give up their claims and inflicted cut wounds to themselves with razors.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no details about the inmates' demands. The press service of the Penitentiary Authority asserts that the demands were illegal.

The prison service has said that the convicts injured themselves in order to put psychological pressure on the colony staff. After the incident, the wounded convicts were rendered first aid; and then they were isolated from other inmates.
