Russian President decrees to toughen migration regime in Sochi during Olympics

Today, Vladimir Putin has signed a decree instructing to amend the migration regime in Sochi during the Winter Olympics-2014.

The document says that those citizens of Russia, who will arrive in Sochi (except for those who will live in hotels, sanatoria, resorts, camps and tourist bases, or be treated at hospitals), shall apply for registration not later than three days after arrival.

Their registration shall be done on the same day. It is not possible to address the Federal Migration Service online or by e-mail on one's dates and place of residence.

The foreigners, who will temporarily come to Russia and who will not take part in the Olympics, may stay in the country for no more than a month (30 days).

The rules will be in force from January 7 to March 21, 2014, and will not cover those, who have their Olympic identity cards and accreditation; as well as the documents certifying one's right to attend the Olympic facilities, and a registration card, says the "Official Internet Portal of Legal Information".
