At trial of "Nida" activists in Baku defence claims violations of their clients' rights

At the trial of seven activists of the "Nida" movement and Ilkin Rustamzade, a member of the movement "Free Youth", held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, the prosecutor Nemat Avazov has spoken against satisfying the petitions put forward at earlier sessions. The public defender Aslan Ismailov has protested against the prosecutor's position and demonstratively left the courtroom, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Let us remind you that on September 12 the "Nida" activists were charged with organizing mass riots.

At the preparatory sessions held on November 5 and 14, the advocates petitioned to stop the criminal case, or, otherwise, change custody for home arrest. Besides, petitions were declared to allow video recording of the trial, and to put the defendants out of the iron cage during sessions, letting them sit close to their advocates.

According to the prosecutor, the investigation has provided sufficient evidence of the defendants' guilt. Furthermore, Avazov found it inappropriate to change the custody in view of the socially dangerous nature of the acts incriminated to the defendants.

The judge postponed the hearing till November 22, 10:00 a.m.
