Yadigar Sadygov, accused of hooliganism in Azerbaijan, claims falsification of his criminal case

On November 22, at the trial conducted by the Lenkoran District Court of Azerbaijan, Yadigar Sadygov, an adviser to the chairman of the "Musavat" Party, accused of hooliganism, declared that the falsified criminal case against him was politically motivated. The court session also questioned witnesses for the prosecution and for the defence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 5 the Lenkoran District Court of Azerbaijan held a preliminary hearing of Yadigar Sadygov's criminal case. The session held on November 12 rejected all the petitions moved by the defence.

Sadygov told about political motives of his arrest. According to his version, already 18 months ago the district bosses threatened to arrest him for criticism of corruption in the region and his political activities. In particular, he wrote on social networks about fictitious statements of local authorities about the revival of tea growing. Besides, according to Sadygov, the authorities were irritated by his preparation in January this year of celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the regional branch of the "Musavat", and with the arrival to Lenkoran of party leaders, against whom local authorities organized provocations.

Judge Elchin Kyazimov said that he would express his attitude to the petitions at the next sessions, appointed by him on December 4.
