Volgograd Communists file 320 lawsuits on election violations

On November 21, members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) of Volgograd filed their last lawsuits about violations at the September 8 elections. In total, there are 320 such lawsuits pending in Volgograd courts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10 CPRF members opened a public reception office in Volgograd within their protest campaign against the outcomes of September 8 elections, including those to the Volgograd City Duma. On September 12, Volgograd Communists filed a claim on violations of the electoral law. On November 12, the Kirov District Court of Volgograd refused to cancel the results of the elections to the City Duma, as the Communists demanded.

Svetlana Bobrova, the head of the press service of the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the CPRF, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that more than 320 lawsuits are now in Volgograd courts – on every polling station of the city.

"To date, some statements about violations have been confirmed by the courts," said Ms Bobrova, adding that 20 Communists' lawsuits have been rejected – some court rulings will be appealed against.
